Council wants help 're-imagining' town hall's role
Westmorland and Furness CouncilPeople have been asked to share their ideas as a council plans to "reimagine the role" of its town hall.
Westmorland and Furness Council said residents, businesses, creatives and community groups could give their opinion on the future of Penrith town hall from Monday.
The authority said £3m from the government's Levelling Up fund and a further £500,000 ringfenced by the Place Programme could be used in the project.
The council said it would host a survey, workshops, creative events until mid October to hear "all voices".
The council said it wanted to transform the Grade II listed building into a "thriving space for culture, heritage, creativity and enterprise".
Councillor Helen Chaffey said: "We now have an exciting opportunity to secure major investment that will protect its heritage while creating a dynamic hub for the whole community."
