A 48-year-old man has been arrested over the theft of a wooden lectern from a Devon church.

The hand-carved eagle-shaped lectern was sawn off and taken from St Paul's Church in Yelverton in May, but recovered a few days later following an anonymous phone call about its whereabouts.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the man, from the Plymouth area, was arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage had been released on bail while inquiries continued.

Any witnesses or those with information about the theft should contact police, the force said.
