Central Pier was closed after the woman fell through a section of the decking

Structural surveys of the decking of all three of Blackpool’s piers have been completed after a woman was hurt when she fell through Central Pier.

Blackpool Council said a health and safety investigation was continuing after the woman fell about 30ft (9m) on 6 August.

The surveys have been carried out by the piers' owner Blackpool Pier Company Ltd and reports are being provided to the local authority.

Stephen Taylor, who said he was a close friend of the woman who fell and set up a fundraiser, revealed she was treated for spinal injuries and a broken elbow.

Central Pier was initially closed after the incident but reopened on 9 August.

North Pier and South Pier continued to operate as normal.
