A new booklet has been created to support children dealing with bereavement.

It will be given out in schools, hospitals and GP surgeries in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire to promote the support available for bereaved children and their families.

The resource was created by bereaved children and Alex Wray, an end-of-life matron at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

"The children's voices and insights have helped shape a compassionate and hopeful resource designed to help others navigate grief with comfort, understanding and strength," Wray said.

The booklet is "child-friendly" and features images and interactive elements, NHS Humber Health Partnership said.

Wray is a researcher for The Forest Project, which hosts forest activities for young people to support then with bereavement.

The charity, run by Fitmums and Friends, is also considering creating a booklet for adults who are supporting bereaved children.
