Road closed after horses killed in crash

A main route through Dorset shut after two horses were killed following a crash with an SUV.

Dorset Police said the horses were initially reported loose on the A31 near Corfe Mullen, shortly before 06:45 GMT.

The force said officers were sent but before they arrived the horses had been struck and killed by a Jeep Cherokee on the A350, south of Roundhouse Roundabout.

The road was closed in both directions from the A31 Roundhouse Roundabout to Sandy Lane - it reopened bothways shortly before 09:15.

The force said the driver of the vehicle was not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.
