Highland councillors have agreed to raise no objection to plans for a battery energy storage system (Bess) near a Caithness village.

The scheme has been proposed for a site adjacent Limekiln Wind Farm substation, near Reay, and it would involve 90 containers.

Renewable energy producer Boralex Ltd's plans were considered by Highland Council's north planning applications committee on Wednesday.

BESS facilities store excess energy generated by wind farms and release it back to the grid at periods of high demand.
