Environment officers investigating white river foam

The foam was seen on the River Gipping in multiple locations in Suffolk

The Environment Agency is investigating after a large volume of white foam was seen on a river.

The foam was reported on the River Gipping at locations between Needham Market and Sproughton in Suffolk over the weekend.

It was also seen downriver in the Ipswich area on Monday.

A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "Our teams have been collecting samples and working to locate the possible source. We understand this matter is of concern to the public, but no negative impact on the river has been detected."
