Jake Joe Bamber, 35, appeared at York Magistrates' Court charged with attempted murder

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a woman was repeatedly stabbed in a knife attack in York.

Jake Joe Bamber was arrested after North Yorkshire Police were called to an address in Lindley Road on Saturday, where they found a woman in her 20s with serious injuries.

The 35-year-old, of Apollo Street, York, appeared at York Magistrates' Court charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public place where he was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 11 February.

Police said the victim remained in hospital, where she was currently in a "serious but stable" condition following emergency treatment.
