Police have said there is a "strong possibility" that four recent arson attacks on caravans may be linked.

The fires all took place on Goodneston Road in Fishponds, Bristol, a street popular with van and caravan dwellers, between 13 November and 5 February.

Avon & Somerset Police said a member of the public reported seeing two men arrive in the area in an older-style brown estate car at around the time of a fire in November.

The force appealed for witnesses to come forward. It said CCTV enquiries have been carried out and some witnesses have already been spoken to.

Insp Richard Jones said: "Detectives are investigating these incidents and believe there is a strong possibility that they may all be linked.

"Fortunately to date there have been no serious injuries, but clearly the consequences of starting a fire deliberately could be catastrophic in terms of safety.

"We are in close contact with the residents and the council around these incidents."

High-visibility patrols are being conducted for reassurance and to try to identify those responsible, Jones added.
