A police warning has been issued about the dangers of unsecured loads after a pallet of bricks fell from a vehicle.

The white blocks came loose and fell off while the vehicle was travelling on Vale Road in Bournemouth, Dorset, last week.

Dorset Police said: "This could have had very serious consequences if the bricks hit another vehicle or passing member of the public."

The force fined the driver and arrested them on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs. They have since been released while enquiries continue.

The force said unsafe loads put all road users at risk of injury if items become loose and fall onto the road.

It directed drivers to the government website for advice on securing loads on vehicles.
