The 72-year-old dubbed Britain's most festive man has put up 25 Christmas trees – but admitted he had to "downsize" this year.

Geoff Stonebanks said he once had 40 trees on display at his home in Seaford, East Sussex.

"But that's going a bit mental, isn't it? It's a forest," he said.

Mr Stonebanks said a knee operation had made things a "bit difficult" this year as his Christmas decorations were stored in a purpose-built loft that required kneeling to get out.

Mr Stonebanks said that he had put up floor-to-ceiling trees in his seafront bungalow, varying from 5ft tall trees to smaller varieties.

"They're absolutely rammed with decorations," he told BBC Radio Sussex.

Mr Stonebanks previously said it took him an entire week to decorate his home.

"I'm sure there must be hundreds of people that are equally as interested in Christmas but aren't as blasé about putting it online," he said earlier.

Mr Stonebanks detailed he also got his dining room ready – including laying the table – for Christmas at the start of December.

Mr Stonebanks added that someone had donated him some "gorgeous" baubles and "other bits and pieces".

But he said that he had not purchased a real tree this Christmas because of difficulties manoeuvring it.

Mr Stonebanks added that he had recently read a story about a German family having more than 600 trees in their home.

"That's definitely a step too far," he said.
