A sheep had to be "detained" by a police officer after it made its way on to the middle of the A30 in Devon.

In a post on X, Devon and Cornwall Police thanked members of the public who helped officers rescue the sheep from the road on Tuesday.

The animal was then put in the back of the attending officer's car, before it was successfully collected by the local farmer.

The road was not closed at any point, but the force confirmed there were some tailbacks while the sheep was secured.
