The Knife Angel in Plymouth was created to highlight the harms of knife crime

A man has been arrested after a sign was vandalised at the site of a sculpture made from 100,000 knife blades.

Devon and Cornwall Police said graffiti had been spray-painted on a banner at the Knife Angel on Place de Brest in Plymouth city centre on Wednesday or Thursday.

A man in his 40s, from Plymouth, has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The 27ft (8m) tall artwork, which is touring the UK, is made from blades either surrendered or seized by police and aims to highlight the negative effects of knife crime.

It was created by artist Alfie Bradley at the British Ironwork Centre in Shropshire in 2017.
