A garden has been transformed into Winter Wonderland to raise money for charity.

The annual event held at the Bachmann family home at Les Ruettes Cottage, St Saviour, Guernsey, opened earlier.

Last year the festive evening featuring twinkling lights, decorations and figurines raised £20,000 which was shared between Autism Guernsey and the Lions Club of Guernsey. The charities are also this year's beneficiaries.

John McLaughlin, from the Lions Club, said the winter wonderland was the start of Christmas for children and adults alike.

Mr McLaughlin said the funds raised from the event were vital to the club to help with projects such as meals on wheels.

"This year we've seen an increase in the need for help which is obviously probably due to the cost of living," he said.

"There are people on island who need help so we try and help where we can."

Cherry Macmillan, of Autism Guernsey, said the event was one of the charity's main fundraisers and "one of the best nights of the year".

"It's lovely when you see the children's and the adults' faces," she said.
