A man has been jailed after a replica firearm was seized in a town centre in Staffordshire.

Michael Jarvie, 50, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was sentenced to seven months in prison after he previously pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 16 December.

Officers said they were called to Barracks Road in Newcastle-under-Lyme just before 15:45 BST on 19 July after "a man threatened a group of people with a gun".
