The A52 will be closed overnight between Gamston and Bingham

The A52 in Nottinghamshire is set to close overnight for "essential" maintenance work.

National Highways said the road would be closed in phases, between Gamston and Bingham, from Monday for work to take place.

Workers will inspect and repair drainage, lighting and signs and clear vegetation, they added.

The highways authority said diversions would be enforced while the closures were in place, between 20:00 and 06:00 GMT.

One lane will be closed in both directions for two nights from Monday, between the Gamston roundabout and the junction with Nottingham Road, near the RSPCA centre.

From Wednesday, the road will be fully closed from the Nottingham Road junction to Bingham Road in Radcliffe-on-Trent, for one night.

The road will then be shut between Bingham Road and the Bingham Interchange for two nights from Thursday before fully reopening on Saturday.

National Highways said during the closures, there would be "escorted access" for Grantham Road residents, and its side roads.

Main Street and Bingham Road will remain open, allowing access to Carter Avenue without escort, the agency added.
