Investigations are ongoing into a serious crash that closed the A52 in Nottinghamshire for about 19 hours, police have said.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash involving a car and a van on a stretch of road between Saxondale Island and Oatfield Lane at 05:00 BST on Friday.

The road was closed in both directions between the A6011 in Gamston and the A46 in Saxondale. It reopened shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Nottinghamshire Police said a 30-year-old man suffered injuries believed to be life-threatening, while a 67-year-old man was also seriously injured.

Both men remain in hospital, the force added.

In a statement, police urged anyone with any information about the crash to get in touch.
