Gym facilities set to reopen after major renovation

A sports centre is set to reopen its gym following a major transformation, which saw the facilities relocated onto the ground floor to improve accessibility.

The first phase of improvements to Warminster Sports Centre in Wiltshire is now complete, featuring a state-of-the-art fitness suite and a refurbished dance studio.

Once the facilities are reopened on 20 March, phase two will begin to convert the original gym upstairs into a flexible space for instructor-led and virtual classes.

Wiltshire councillor Ian Blair-Pilling, cabinet member for leisure, said the investment aims to "support people to keep mentally and physically active."

Following the fitness suite upgrade, the gym space has nearly doubled in size and will feature new cardiovascular equipment, including a curved treadmill, air bike and Stairmaster.

There will also be an increased number of resistance machines, a larger free weight area, and a functional area with battle ropes and medicine balls.

Afull refurbishment of the dance studiohas also taken place, with upgraded lighting, heating, ventilation and the addition of a ballet barre.

Mr Blair-Pilling said: "We hope users will agree they are much more modern and fit-for-purpose.

"We want to support people to keep mentally and physically active and that is why we're investing in our leisure centres.

"These improvements will help to make the gym at Warminster more accessible, giving people of all ages more opportunity to utilise them."
