Police were called to Dornoch's Morrison Court on Saturday

A 34-year-old man has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman in Dornoch in the Highlands.

Police Scotland said officers were called to Morrison Court at about 16:40 on Saturday following the death of a 46-year-old woman.

Daniel Sutherland, of Inverness, made no plea at the city's sheriff court.

He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
