Store reopens after hundreds of bricks fell from wall
Ken Townend BemA supermarket forced to close after a large section of its frontage collapsed - scattering hundreds of bricks onto the car park below - has reopened to the public.
An area outside the Asda branch in Hayle, Cornwall, was cordoned off for safety after Monday's collapse. No-one was hurt.
Structural engineers were on site during the evening, with the shop having reopened by 11:00 GMT on Tuesday.
Asda said the section of frontage had fallen due to "adverse weather conditions." Store manager Sara Taylor confirmed her team had been "working really hard" to begin clearing up and the road and entry to the car park was now open as usual.
Taylor added: "Over the coming days and weeks we'll have contractors on site repairing the damage and rebuilding the wall to our yard, and there may be intermittent works impacting a small number of our car parking spaces.
"All of our services will be up and running including parcel collection and home shopping delivery, but if you have any questions or concerns about your orders you can contact our helpful customer services team.
"We look forward to seeing you again very soon and I want to thank all of our customers and the wider community for their well wishes and understanding over the past 24 hours."
