The Naver Bridge replaced an old single-track crossing

A new bridge on the North Coast 500 tourist route in Sutherland has officially opened to traffic.

The new Naver Bridge, on the A836 near Bettyhill, has replaced a deteriorating single-track wrought iron girder crossing built in the 1880s.

Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd carried out the work on behalf of Highland Council.

Efforts have now begun on demolishing the old bridge, with the work expected to continue until the end of the month.
