'If it rolls it's welcome' in 60s carnival parade
Getty ImagesCarnival-goers are being encouraged to get their applications in to take part in a 1960s-themed comeback parade, which is returning after 18 years.
The Bilston Carnival parade will bring colour and community spirit to the town on 4 July, with the theme a nod to when the event first started.
The council said it welcomed applications for anything from traditional floats to camper vans, milk floats and tractors, adding "if it rolls, it's welcome".
"Bilston Carnival is all about celebrating what makes the town special - the people, creativity and strong sense of community," said Josie Kelly, chair of the Bilston Board.
"The carnival parade will be a real highlight, and we would love to see as many local groups, families and organisations as possible get involved."
The carnival last took place in 2008, and is being resurrected by popular demand as part of regeneration plans in the town.
Those who prefer to take part in foot or spectate can embrace the fun by dressing up in 1960s outfits.
The authority is putting on workshops to help people develop ideas and prepare their entries.
Applications must be submitted to Wolverhampton City Council by 15 May.
