Two people, who had been arrested after a woman was found with serious injuries, have been released on bail.

Police were called to a property in Tweentown, Cheddar, Somerset by the ambulance service at 10:11 GMT on Saturday, with the victim - in her 40s - taken to hospital.

Avon and Somerset Police arrested a man in his 60s at the scene on suspicion of wounding with intent and then a woman in her 80s was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have both been released on bail while the investigation continues.

There has been no update on the victim's condition on Monday, which the police described as life-threatening over the weekend.
