Two people have been arrested after a woman was found at a house with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Police were called to a property in Tweentown, Cheddar, Somerset by the ambulance service at 10:11 GMT on Saturday, with the victim - in her 40s - taken to hospital.

A man in his 60s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding with intent, while a woman in her 80s was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Avon and Somerset Police said both remained in custody.

A spokesperson for the force said an investigation was underway, with officers at the scene carrying out inquiries.
