Boy, 8, and woman injured in dog attack

An eight-year-old boy and a woman have been injured in a dog attack in Manchester.

Police said the pair were taken to hospital after the incident in Haverfield Road, Blackley at about 14:30 GMT.

Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Greater Manchester Police said armed response officers were deployed and the dog had been safely detained.

The dog was not believed to be from a dangerous breed.
