A man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman at a park in Nottingham.

Police said officers were called to Forest Recreation Ground shortly before 20:00 GMT on Monday after a member of the public found a distressed woman.

A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, the force said.

The woman - who is in her 30s - is being supported by specially trained officers.

Det Insp Ed Cook said: "I recognise that this incident may have caused concern for members of the public and we have been working tirelessly to investigate this incident.

"We continue to maintain a visible presence in the area. Please speak with us if you have any concerns.

"If you witnessed anything in the area or have relevant dashcam footage from Monday evening, I would urge you to report it to us."
