Bar licence pulled after firearm incident near venue
GoogleA bar in Derby has had its licence suspended after a firearms incident near the venue.
The R Lounge in Victoria Street has been closed temporarily after a decision was made to pull its licence at an expedited hearing at Derby City Council on Friday.
The move comes after Derbyshire Constabulary launched an investigation into reports a gun was fired near the back of the bar on Sunday.
The force said it had concerns over disorder linked to the venue, which will remain closed until at least 27 May, when a full hearing to discuss its future will take place.
Detectives said they were called to reports a firearm was discharged in Becket Well Lane, at the rear of the venue, at about 02:30 BST on Sunday.
No one was injured, but a scene was put in place while investigations took place.
Two men, 20 and 46, and a 21-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Officers said the 46-year-old man has been recalled to prison in relation to another matter and was bailed in connection with the investigation into the firearms incident.
The 21-year-old woman has been bailed with conditions.
The 20-year-old man remains in police custody.
