Man caught spiking women's drinks on pub CCTV

CCTV footage has shown the moment a man spiked the drinks of two women at a Wetherspoons pub in Derby.

Derbyshire Police said Steven Millward, 38, placed a white powder in the women's glasses when they went to the toilet in The Standing Order in February 2025.

One of the women noticed the powder on her return and took her drink to the bar, where staff suspected it had been placed there deliberately.

Staff checked CCTV and saw Millward placing the powder in the glasses, the force said.

Police were called and Millward, of Maple Drive in Chellaston, was arrested in the pub.

Millward told officers he poured what he thought was cocaine into the glasses to drink himself as he thought the women had left.

However, the powder was later tested and found not to contain any controlled substance, police said.

In court, Millward admitted two counts of attempting to unlawfully or maliciously administer a poison or noxious substance with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy.

Millward was handed a seven-month prison sentence, suspended for 15 months, at Derby Crown Court on 23 February. He was also given 140 hours of unpaid work.
