Robin found dead in illegal glue trap in Fort William
Getty ImagesPolice have appealed for information after a robin was found dead in a glue trap in Fort William.
The discovery was made on Henderson Row in the Plantation area of the town on Saturday 22 November.
Glue traps, usually a sticky board or tray, can only be used for controlling insects and all other uses are banned.
Police Scotland said anyone who had the traps should safely and responsibly dispose of them.
Glue traps have traditionally be used for controlling rodents and animals classed as vermin, but other wildlife can become stuck in them.
Last year, animal welfare charity the Scottish SPCA said two robins died after being caught in a glue trap in Edinburgh.
It said baby mice and a long-eared bat had been among other victims.
Glue traps were prohibited along with the use of snares under the Wildlife Management and Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024.
