GP surgery closes after 'medication stolen'
SuppliedA man has been arrested after medication was allegedly stolen from a GP surgery.
Patients of Bradford on Avon Health Centre in Wiltshire were informed via text message that the facility was closed following an "incident".
Wiltshire Police said officers were sent to the GP surgery just after 18:00 GMT on Tuesday, after reports someone had caused damage to the building and stolen medication.
A man - in his 30s and from Bradford on Avon - has been arrested on suspicion of six counts of common assault, criminal damage, affray, theft and assault of an emergency worker. He remains in custody in Melksham for questioning.
People who were due to have face-to-face appointments at the surgery, which is close to the town's train station, were told these will now be carried out over the phone.
A spokesperson from Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board said: "We are supporting Bradford on Avon Health Centre to ensure that services continue with minimal disruption today, while their building is closed.
"Patients will be contacted if they have an appointment today."
Patients can still call the health centre and use its e-consult service for queries.
SuppliedOn Facebook, the Bradford on Avon Health Partnership wrote "The practice doors will be closed due to damage caused this evening. We are aiming to reopen on Thursday."
A sign has been attached to the health centre's doors to also inform patients of the changes and there was a police presence on Wednesday morning.
