Woman seriously injured after being hit by car

A pedestrian has been seriously injured after she was hit by a car on Christmas Day.

The woman, in her 60s, was crossing Alexandra Road in Tipton, Sandwell, when she was struck by the vehicle shortly after 10:00 GMT.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains in a stable condition, West Midlands Police said.

The car stopped at the scene, the force confirmed, and the driver has been assisting officers with the investigation.

Anyone who saw what happened or who might have dashcam or CCTV footage has been urged to call 101 or contact West Midlands Police via the website.
