Officers are appealing for information after several kittens were thrown into a canal.

Derbyshire Police said they received reports a man was seen throwing the kittens into the water under a bridge in Derby Road, Long Eaton, at about 14:00 on Monday.

The force said three kittens were pulled out by a member of public and another was retrieved by officers, with one currently being treated by vets and "expected to make a full recovery".

The force are now urging anyone with information to come forward.
