A crash-damaged bridge has reopened but a council said it was unable to say when repairs would be completed.

The 19th Century bridge, at Boot Street, Great Bealings in Suffolk, was hit on 9 February.

At the time of the collision, the fire service had to recover a vehicle left partially hanging over the edge.

A spokesperson for Suffolk County Council said: "Work is continuing in the background for permanent repairs, and an update on these will be shared in due course."

There were no reported injuries but the structure, listed as a scheduled monument, was left severely damaged with brickwork broken through.

The bridge reopened on 6 March with a temporary weight restriction and a narrower road surface due to the barriers.
