The post office in Barnetby will reopen on 23 January

A village post office is to reopen almost nine months after it shut.

Barnetby Post Office closed in April after its postmaster resigned, the Post Office said.

A new owner is to reopen the shop on Kings Road on 23 January, it added.

Since the Post Office has been closed, villagers have had to travel more than four miles (6km) to access postal services in other branches.

Post Office area change manager Mary Benbow said: "We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are delighted that the new owners of the store are reopening Barnetby Post Office."

It will be open seven days a week, the Post Office added.
