Beverley Knight named Wolves FC charity ambassador

British soul star and actor Beverley Knight has been named as an ambassador for Wolverhampton Wanderers charity, the Wolves Foundation.

The Wolverhampton-born songstress has enthused over the role and said she was looking forward to raising awareness about the charity's work.

"I see what it does for people. The care it shows, the impact it has on individuals, and the community it creates," she said.

The proud Wulfrian also said she would like to champion the use of music to empower young people and support those struggling with their mental health.

"We have our ups and we have our downs, but we are one pack, and this club gives so much to the community and beyond," Knight said.

Last year, the singer and her husband James O'Keefe took part in the Molineux Sleepout, when nearly 250 people braved cold, wet and windy weather to raise money for the foundation and the Good Shepherd charities.

Knight explained she wanted to draw on her musical background in her ambassadorial role.

"Another area I'd love to support is around music and the power of music and I see so much talent with young people I'd love to help develop," she said.

"And if there is a way for me to use music to connect and to unite, especially to reach out to people who are struggling with their mental health and their wellness, that would be great.

"The Head 4 Health project delivers some incredible work and is something we are really keen to support, especially with that being James' area of particular expertise."

Television presenter Suzi Perry, who also became an ambassador in 2024, said the Wolverhampton-born friends, "have both flown the flag globally for Wolverhampton as we are really proud of where we have come from".

Knight is set to take to the stage in Marie & Rosetta in the West End this weekend, and will then be embarking on her Born to Perform tour across the UK in June, with the final show at the University of Wolverhampton at the Halls.
