More than 30 firefighters attended a blaze outside a building in Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Russell Street in Millfield at 07:35 GMT to a fire that was "quickly spreading".

It added 17 crews, including from Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire, attended the incident.

The fire service said one crew remained at the scene to make sure the area was safe, and an investigation into the cause of the fire was under way.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used hose reels to extinguish the blaze, it added.

The service asked people to avoid the area and to find alternative routes.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said there were no casualties.

They added that an ambulance, two paramedic cars and three hazardous area response team vehicles were sent to the scene.
