Refurbishment work on the 900-year-old building began in 2020
The final cost of the project was £27.5m, up from the originally predicted £18m

A five-year project restoring parts of a medieval castle has finally been unveiled to the public.

Norwich Castle underwent a £27.5m transformation, including the restoration of original floor levels in the Grade I listed keep and the re-creation of the great hall.

The Royal Palace Reborn project was delayed due to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. Norman and Victorian features also needed to be preserved, meaning the reopening date was pushed back further.

Robin Hanley, assistant head of Norfolk Museums Service, said: "It is just so wonderful to be seeing visitors coming into the Norman keep and enjoying these fantastic spaces that we have re-created."
