Warning to owners of empty houses as craze grows

Owners of empty houses in Guernsey are being warned to keep them secure due to a current craze among young people.

Guernsey Police said it had seen "an increasing trend" in young people entering and sometimes breaking into abandoned buildings, an activity known as urban exploring.

Officers advised house owners to lock and secure doors and shut or board up windows.

Empty properties are often dangerous for young people to be inside, they added, making it important to keep the buildings secure.
