Engineering work halts tram services in region
BBCTram passengers are being warned there are no services running between Wednesbury and Birmingham until Thursday due to engineering work.
West Midlands Metro announced the temporary suspension as part of its work to widen the network, something Ed Williams, their head of engineering, described as a "significant milestone in preparing the route for opening later this year".
Passengers were told trams would continue to run between the Wolverhampton Station and Wednesbury Great Western Street stops - but there would be no onward services to Birmingham city centre and Edgbaston Village.
National Express buses in the area would accept Metro tickets and passes during the works, a spokesperson said.
The bus operator is also running an enhanced timetable to provide connections with early and late trams between Wednesbury and Wolverhampton.
"Decisions to temporarily reduce or suspend services are never taken lightly and are only made when absolutely necessary," Williams added.
"While all these works are taking place, we're taking the opportunity to carry out other essential maintenance and renewal work across the network to further avoid future disruption for customers."
