A section of dual carriageway in Northamptonshire has a new 50mph speed limit.

North Northamptonshire Council said the new limit on the A43 between Weldon and the northern edge of the county should reduce speeds not only on that stretch but also in nearby Collyweston and Easton‑on‑the‑Hill.

Chris McGiffen, the council's executive member for highways, said: "We are aware of the concerns of residents about the safety of this stretch of road, which is why we have worked hard to implement these changes."

Last year, people in Easton‑on‑the‑Hill submitted a petition asking for the village limit to be reduced to 30mph.

The council said it would look at whether more road markings were needed in the village as part of a wider Red Route review this year.
