Skye's Gaelic college to get new education and cultural centre
Sabhal Mòr OstaigSkye's Gaelic college Sabhal Mòr Ostaig is to receive more than £4m from the Scottish government for a new education and cultural centre.
The college's Fàs building - which has not been used since 2022 - is to be converted into the new Centre for Gaelic Creativity.
It will include a media studio for broadcast training, and a space for community activities and business opportunities.
There will also be a Gaelic-medium nursery in the building.
The Scottish government said the refurbishment of the building would strengthen the college's capacity to deliver courses and undertake research in Gaelic.
Education Secretary Jenny Gilruth said the Fàs site had been out of use for too long, and this investment would bring it back as a centre of education, culture and creativity for the Gaelic language.
Sabhal Mòr Ostaig Principal Dr Gillian Munro welcomed the announcement.
She said: "Regenerating Fàs supports our work expanding and modernising our curriculum, digital learning opportunities, research capacity, and our work with the community."
