A man has died when his car hit a barrier on the M6.

A silver Porsche 911 Carrera crashed near junction seven of the motorway at Great Barr, in the West Midlands, at about 00:15 GMT on Monday.

The man, aged in his 50s, died from injuries he suffered in the crash, a spokesperson for West Midlands Police said.

The northbound carriageway was closed overnight and reopened Monday morning but the slip road remained closed for repair work. No other vehicles were thought to be involved in the crash, the spokesperson added.
