M6 overnight closures for resurfacing works
GooglePart of the M6 in Cumbria will be closed overnight this week for resurfacing works.
The northbound carriageway, from just north of Carlisle to the Scottish border, will shut for five nights from Monday, weather dependent, National Highways said.
The closure is expected to run from 20:00 to 06:00 BST and there will be a signed diversion route via the A7, A6071 and B7076 through Gretna, re-joining the A74(M) at junction 22.
National Highways said they were routine works, but hoped to keep disruption to a minimum by working at night when traffic levels were lower.
It is part of wider resurfacing work on both carriageways of the M6 from junction 44.
Work would continue under night-time lane closures on the M6 northbound until July, National Highways said.
Resurfacing on the southbound carriageway would begin around mid-July, and involve five overnight closures in September.
National Highways added that some slip road closures at junction 45 would also be necessary, but those closures would be advertised at least two weeks in advance.
