A one-day festival to celebrate Cleethorpes has taken place in the seaside resort.

The Love Your Town event was organised by North East Lincolnshire Council as a springtime celebration of creativity, community and coastal pride.

Despite the chilly weather, organiser Katie-Lou Green said she was "really pleased with how many people have come out today".

The event took place in several locations including Market Place, St Peter's Street, Sea View Street and the beach.

St Peter's Church hosted crafting activities, a community mural, storytelling sessions with author Katie Hopper as well as a drop-in animation workshop and a silent disco.

Shops in the town also held exhibitions and window displays. A dog show was also held on the seafront.

Derek Brasted, who attended the event, said Cleethorpes was "a good community".

"You get bad things, like everywhere does, but altogether it's friendly," he said.

Anthony Whiteman, who lives in the centre of the town, said it was really nice to see "lots of fun activities that I can walk to".

Katie-Lou Green of Checkmate Productions, who organised the event on behalf of the council, said: "Everyone's got a smile on their faces.

"It's lovely seeing people chatting together."
