Plans have been submitted to build a new leisure centre in a Wiltshire town.

The county council wants to build the centre for Trowbridge at its East Wing site.

The proposed facility, estimated to cost around £25m, will include a six-lane 25m swimming pool, cafe, an adventure play for children and a gym with 120 exercise stations.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Public Health, said it was a "huge milestone for this project" and if approved, the centre would be for the benefit of the whole community.

The site will also include a learner pool, two fitness studios, a spin facility and a community meeting room

“This investment will provide a modern impressive energy efficient facility that will have health and wellbeing right at its heart but will also play a key role in linking that area of Trowbridge to the centre of town, improving the overall offer of our county town," he added.

The site will also include 7m x 13m learner pool, two studios, an immersive spin studio, a community meeting room and a dedicated space for older people to exercise.

The planning application has been submitted after drop-in sessions in June allowed more than 700 people to give feedback on the plans.
