People are being warned by police to lock their windows and ensure high-value items are not on view after a spate of burglaries.

Gloucestershire Police is urging residents in the Cotswolds to be vigilant after antiques, silverware and safes were stolen from 12 properties in January.

Most of the break-ins, which happened in Saintbury, Winchcombe, Icomb and Andoversford, took place between 16:30 GMT and 23:00.

Officers believe the burglaries were targeted and are investigating whether they are linked.

Other items including jewellery, watches, cash and handbags were also stolen.

Forensic investigations, house-to-house and CCTV enquiries have taken place and anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Residents have also been told to report any suspicious activity.
