M5 closed as motorcyclist seriously injured in crash

A section of the M5 is closed following a serious crash involving a motorcyclist, police say.

The northbound carriageway near Tewkesbury is shut between Junction 10 (Cheltenham) and Junction 9 (Tewkesbury) after the collision which happened at about 09:50 BST.

Emergency services remain at the scene and the motorcyclist is currently being assessed by paramedics after sustaining suspected serious injuries, Gloucestershire Police said.

The closure is expected to remain in place for a number of hours, and motorists have been urged to avoid the area.
