Football exhibition highlights the beautiful game
Stacey BarnfieldSupporters in the West Midlands counting down to the Euro 2024 finals in Germany can get a football fix closer to home - at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
Football: Designing the Beautiful Game showcases items from some of the game’s greatest players including Pelé and Lionel Messi alongside memorabilia from the region's clubs.
The exhibition features objects on loan from The National Football Museum in Manchester and Fifa's World Football Museum in Zurich.
The gallery, a 10-minute walk from Wolverhampton Wanderers' Molineux stadium, also reflects the city's footballing history with items from the Wolves Museum.

“Wolverhampton is a proud footballing city. The Old Gold is famous for lots of firsts in football including being a founding member of the Football League and Molineux hosting the first European game under flood-lights."

Stacey BarnfieldThe exhibition features a screening of a film about another of the games’ greatest players – France's Zinedine Zidane.
"Zidane, a 21st Century Portrait" follows the French star in real time over the course of a single match in 2005.
It was assembled from footage shot by 17 synchronised cameras and captured Zidane from multiple angles.
The exhibition at the gallery is free and tickets can be booked online.
