A hospital worker is raising money for her unit by ice skating the equivalent of a marathon throughout December.

Liz Amini, who is an activities co-ordinator at the Bradley Unit at Woking Hospital, is taking on the 26.2 mile-challenge (42.2km) at Guildford Spectrum in Surrey.

The Bradley Unit provides neuro-rehabilitation for patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, and other neurological conditions, and Ms Amini has raised more than £2,000 so far.

She said: "I am thrilled to share a joyful new challenge that brings together winter fun, physical wellbeing, and community spirit - all in support of a truly meaningful cause."

Ashford and St Peter's Hospital NHS Trust said it was "deeply grateful" to Ms Amini for taking on the "remarkable challenge".

"Every contribution will help create a more uplifting and empowering space for our patients and their families on the unit," the trust spokesperson added.

The Bradley Unit has been appealing to help get a new therapy gym, a more uplifting social space, and a ward refresh.
