World Cancer Day event invites people to connect
BBCIslanders have been invited to attend a World Cancer Day Connect Me event to access cancer support, information and services.
The event, being held at Jersey Library on Wednesday, is set to bring together people affected by cancer with healthcare professionals and support organisations to share resources and advice.
Attendees will be offered the chance to meet different cancer charities and public services and to learn more about prevention, screening and available support.
A free expert panel on cancer prevention and early diagnosis is due to take place during the event, allowing the public to ask questions and hear from health specialists.
Dr Elizabet Gomes Dos Santos, clinical lead for cancer services and screening at Health and Care Jersey, said: "World Cancer Day is an opportunity for Jersey to come together around a simple truth: while every experience of cancer is unique, we are stronger when we act collectively.
"This is about prevention, cancer screening and early diagnosis, and showing clearly that support exists here in Jersey."
The event is set to feature organisations including Jersey Hospice Care, Macmillan Jersey, Jersey Cancer Relief, Cancer.je, Public Health, the Screening Team and multiple Government of Jersey services.
Islanders were also encouraged to take part in a digital pledge wall by committing to one positive lifestyle change to reduce their cancer risk.
